Pizza Restaurants in Chicago during Covid-19

During this Covid-19 epidemic, the CDC and our local and federal government bodies have told us that self-isolation is the best way to help curb the spread of the Coronavirus.  If like a lot of people, you find yourself cooking many meals a day and need a break, we suggest you take advantage of a take-out or delivery service for some good old-fashioned, tasty Chicago pizza. Here is our pick of some local Streeterville, top-rated pizza establishments.

BONGIORNO’S

312-755-1255

For some homemade Italian fare from this Italian-born chef, you can’t go wrong to order your pizza from Bongiorno’s family-run business.

Steve Dolinsky, from ABC 7, Chicago’s #1 news station, is a regular. Many accolades include TripAdvisor’s Certificate of Excellence, GrubHub’s Golden Grub Award, and the selection by Chicago Magazine as one of the best restaurants for pizza in Downtown Chicago.

GINO’S EAST

This Chicago institution serves its Deep Dish pizza, the same since 1966. Available flavors include Deluxe Cheese, Meaty Legend, Sausage Patty, Sausage, Pepperoni, Sausage & Pepperoni, Supreme, and Spinach Blend.

If Deep Dish is not for you, then tuck into their Tavern Style or Thin Crust. There’s something for everyone. Their iconic cheese pulls are something you should definitely try, especially if you want to dip into any of your favorite sauces from the ranch, marinara, giardiniera, blue cheese, BBQ, buffalo, Caesar, spicy Caesar, or garlic butter.

You can order through GrubHub, but if you order direct on their website: www.ginoseast.com you can help to Feed Our Heroes.  By doing so you have the option to donate to their efforts to feed healthcare workers, police departments, firefighters, and other first responders in Chicago. Gino’s East is also offering first responders and essential personnel, major discounts on their carryout and delivery orders.

ROBERT’S PIZZA & DOUGH CO

312-265-1328

Originally from New York, Robert started his pizza-making journey in an attempt to strike a balance between “crunch and chew”, creating a perfect pizza crust. Although there is one style of pizza crust being served here, the variety of unusual and mouthwatering toppings is varied. From duck prosciutto, Brussels sprouts, and bacon, to fennel, caramelized onion, and many more.

Their Real Camo Pizza is topped with wild mushrooms, chopped dates, goat’s cheese, duck prosciutto, smoked mozzarella, and Calabrian pepper.

Note that although closed on Monday, you can order from their website which forwards you to the CAVIAR site or app, assuring your delivery within 30 minutes.

With so many different dietary requirements to contend with these days, Blaze’s Life Mode pizzas cater to those who want a keto (gluten-free), protein, vegetarian, or vegan pizza too.

LOU MALNATI’S

312-828-9800

Since Grandpa Malnati created the recipe in 1943 at Chicago’s first deep dish pizzeria, Lou Malnati’s stayed true to this original Chicago-style pizza.

Known for its finest ingredients from California’s vine-ripened plum tomatoes blended and canned especially for Malnati’s, special Wisconsin mozzarella cheese, to the flaky, buttery pizza crust, this combination of quality and flavor continues to delight any pizza lover’s taste buds.

Malnati’s has been providing pizza for healthcare workers at local hospitals on a limited basis over the past few weeks. Their GOFUNDME  page is supporting their efforts to feed healthcare personnel, nurses, physicians, firefighters, police officers, and essential workers who are on the front lines.
